Founded in 1948, Tilhill is the leading forestry, timber harvesting and landscaping company in the UK. We provide superior forest and woodland management services to landowners, helping them maximise the potential of their property, today and tomorrow.
With our knowledge and skill set we also run CarbonStore, setting industry-leading standards in the supply of young trees, the creation of woodlands, and the marketing of Carbon Units.
With over 70 years of experience, the first plantations we created have been harvested, replanted, and are due for harvesting again. Many colleagues have been with us for as long as one full crop rotation and really reap what they have sown. Our graduates, on the other hand, are planning and planting their first forests for the future.
From purchasing to maintaining, harvesting, and landscaping, we have a wide range of career development opportunities in forestry across the UK.
Maelor Forest Nurseries produces bare root trees and shrubs suitable for forestry, hedging and native woodland planting. We market approximately 35 million trees a year to customers throughout the UK and Europe.
We’re renowned for our onsite, purpose-built laboratory and genetic research, enhancing tree resilience and quality, and improving the health of the world’s forests. To help achieve this, we have a policy of continuous staff training, both externally and on-site, to improve our colleagues’ plant handling skills at all levels.
With sites located in Wrexham in Wales and Forres in Scotland, our research and technical work covers a number of areas, including tree breeding, pest and disease control, nursery husbandry, vegetive propagation, spruce hybrid development and root electrolyte leakage (REL) testing.
Based in the Scottish Borders, Dick Brothers boasts state-of-the-art forestry equipment and market-leading capabilities that allow the business to harvest some of the largest and most complex forests in the country. With over 25 years of experience, and a fleet of forwarders and harvesters, we offer a range of technical harvesting services, including wind farm clearance; thinning services; steep ground harvesting; and clearfelling.

"BSW are a family-owned business, so everyone plays a key role in our success. I’ve been with BSW for 22 years and throughout my time I’ve been supported in my progression from Trainee Operator to Primary Operations Manager. Andrew Fisher
Area Manager at Tilhill
"I joined Tilhill in 2013 through the company graduate scheme and I quickly progressed to becoming a Forest Manager, before climbing the ranks to my current position as an Area Manager. Working with Tilhill is very rewarding – I enjoy seeing my work come to fruition in the forests and supporting junior staff members develop into seasoned professionals. "
Sian Laud
Assistant Harvesting Manager at Tilhill
"As I approached the end of my MSc in Conservation Biology I decided to apply for the Tilhill graduate scheme and joined their central Harvesting team in September 2021. Tilhill are at the forefront of sustainable forestry and one of the things that attracted me to the business was how closely each of the divisions works together."
